Dec. 22, 2009 - Paradise, CA
Former unemployed comedy writer and currently unemployed cartoonist Steve Ferchaud turns 50 today. Ferchaud, best known for his childrens’ book illustrations and rejected Hustler cartoons, seemed optimistic when contacted by a reporter who was curious as to whether the hermitic scribbler was still alive or not.
“Of course I’m alive,” shouted some old guy (believed to be Ferchaud) from a trailer in Paradise, California. “If I was dead my work would be worth more money!”
The starving artist then threw an eraser at our reporter.
Witnesses said later they could hear him complaining about injuring his shoulder and sobbing lightly.
Ferchaud was also the co-founder of the Allen Standish Comedy Revue in 1978. He quit ten years later, saying he wanted to spend more time with someone else's family.
